Automatic Packaging Solution for Wood-Based Panels
Qiangtong’s Automatic Wood-Based Panel Packaging Line is an end-of-line automation solution for palletized MDF, HDF, particle board, plywood, OSB, blockboard and laminated or melamine-faced panels. According to the project configuration, conveying, PET strapping and LLDPE stretch wrapping can be integrated into one connected packaging system.
The line is designed around the customer’s panel dimensions, pallet format, packaging method, target output and available factory space. It can be configured as a complete packaging section or connected with existing upstream and downstream equipment.
For manufacturers that currently rely on manual strapping and film wrapping, the automated system helps standardize the packaging process, reduce manual handling and prepare panel stacks for storage and transportation.
Main Wood-Based Panel Packaging Equipment
The cantilever stretch wrapper handles pallet sizes of L1320–2800 × W660–1200 mm and packaging heights of 600–1500 mm, with a wrapping capacity of 10–20 pallets per hour. It uses 500 mm LLDPE stretch film with a thickness of 17–35 μm and supports pre-stretch up to 300%. Photoelectric height detection, adjustable film feeding and PLC-set wrapping cycles support flexible automatic or manual operation.
The downward-pressure strapping machine uses 16 mm PET strap with a thickness of 0.7–0.9 mm and adjustable strapping force of 50–250 kg. Friction-welded joints can reach 85% of the parent strap strength, depending on strap quality. The system supports pneumatic lance operation, customizable strap spacing and lance height, Ethernet communication, and a strapping cycle of approximately 46 seconds per strap.
The chain plate conveyor handles pallet sizes of L1320–2800 × W660–1200 mm, with a working height of 500 ± 25 mm and an effective conveyor width of 1400 mm. Conveying speed reaches up to 12 m/min. A variable-frequency motor with brake and chain-drive system provides controlled panel transfer between packaging stations, while the 1.52 kW total installed power supports integration into the wood-based panel packaging line.
How the Automatic Panel Packaging Line Works
Infeed & Transfer
Palletized panel stacks enter the line and are automatically conveyed to the selected packaging station.
PET Strapping
PET straps secure each stack, with strap positions and tension configured for the project.
Stretch Film Wrapping
LLDPE stretch film protects the stack, with wrapping layers and cycles controlled by PLC.
Finished Package Discharge
Completed packages are conveyed to storage, forklift pickup or the next production section.

Packaging Configurations and Customized Layout
Every wood-based panel factory has different panel sizes, pallet formats, production flows and available floor space. Qiangtong configures each automatic packaging line around the actual project instead of forcing one fixed layout.
- Conveying + PET Strapping — Suitable for secure pallet transfer with adjustable strap positioning and tension.
- Conveying + Stretch Wrapping — Adds LLDPE film protection against dust, moisture and handling damage.
- Integrated Strapping & Wrapping Line — Combines conveying, PET strapping and stretch wrapping in one connected automatic system.
This modular approach allows the packaging section to operate as a stand-alone line or connect directly with the existing production process.
The conveying direction, working height, transfer sections, station sequence and PLC interfaces can be adapted to existing upstream and downstream equipment. Final configuration is confirmed according to panel dimensions, stack height, pallet size, required packaging method, target output and available factory space.
For a customized proposal, provide your panel and pallet dimensions, stack height, desired packaging process, target capacity, existing equipment details and factory layout.
Why Choose Qiangtong for Panel Packaging Automation?
